Journal Entry #12

June 16th 2011

Tonight we went with Alareece and Jessica to the Animation Guild in Burbank. The Women in Animation (WIA) group had an annual event. There was a panel of film makers talking about short films and how they got into the business. It was really great to hear them talking about their experiences and get to talk to them afterward.

This past Sunday I made my way over to the LA Zoo to study and draw animals. Maybe I will post some of those in the next couple of days. I had to order a new sketchbook today because I have been drawing so much.

Alareece has been giving us Flash lessons and has been trying to change my mind about the capabilities of Flash. I have never been the biggest Flash fan but I am totally open and am hoping she will be able to show me the ways.

  1. Took me a while to warm up to Flash, but it does everything I need it to without much hassle. It's perfectly suitable for high quality animation. Check out Nick Cross' Pig Farmer as testament to that.

  2. I have seen some amazing things done in Flash. I am just not the biggest fan. The only thing I personally like doing in Flash is storyboards. I don't like the drawing tools and I hate building puppets. Just let me draw!!
